This news copied directly from the HeWhoCorrupts Inc. website because I am too lazy to write my own spin on it:
"Finally, the news you've all been waiting for. The Tusk "Get Ready" CD re-issue will be up for pre-order in late January!!! Make sure to check out the site Jan 10th for a special pre-order deal that also includes a Tusk t-shirt and poster!!! As if we haven't reminded you enough, this re-issue is essential for even those of you that might own the original "Get Ready" CD. The re-issue will include the following extras: all original tracks completely re-mixed and re-mastered, 6 unreleased live radio tracks, new artwork courtesy of Aaron Turner (Hydrahead | Isis), and a new enhanced section featuring an interview, live radio performance, and music video. May we kindly remind on new comers, before there was Pelican, there was the mighty Tusk!!!!"
I guess that's essentially how I would've written it to, but there's really no need to refer to us as "mighty" or anything like that. Right? Have a great new year's!

Our classic first album "Get Ready" is passing slowly and quietly out of print. We at the Tusk Farm Headquarters for an Old American Century won't stand for PRODUCT to go unavailable to CONSUMERS, so a deal has been struck with the profit mongers at HeWhoCorrupts, Inc. to reissue the puppy in an indispensible new edition that will be REMIXED (by original engineer Greg Norman, broken-kneed bassist Laurent Lebec, and Cozy Powell protege Larry Herweg), REMASTERED (by Alan Douches), and REPACKAGED (by Aaron Turner), with additional live tracks, and, I think (don't quote me on this), an enhanced portion with photos and State secrets seized from a stolen laptop found in a Dunkin Donuts dumpster in Washington, DC (we've got you now, Agent Krizpowliefsky!). The new CD will, therefore, be an essential item for both people who have never heard the classic (loose application of the term here) album and those who already own it. Suckers.
Word is that Minnoch, while not at sea, has been spending a lot of time skating, which we are to understand is his equivalent of brainstorming and composing lyrics for the new Tusk album. The new record will drop sometime next year on Tortuga Recordings.

Just read in an email that the second vinyl pressing of "Tree of No Return" have come back from the pressing plant. This run will also be limited to 500 copies and are on white vinyl. Look for them today at your favorite record store. Actually, they probably aren't there yet. So perhaps you are better off to wait awhile. But not too long. More info probably attainable at
www.interloperrecords.com.

In February we laid the basic tracks for the new Tusk album. As yet untitled, it is comprised of one sprawling 30 minute long song. Some more studio time has been planned for the end of this month, but we're still very unsure of when or where this thing will be finished. Tortuga has graciously and patiently agreed to release it when it does come to fruition.
Also of interest is Fox News' reporting on the death of Pope John Paul II, who is being venerated for his contribution to Reagan's tireless war on Communism. Yup, Bonzo and the Pope brought an end to the Cold War and we will miss them both. Call the fucking wahmbulence.

The Tusk email address completely dropped out. Please direct all inquiries/hate mail/ etc. to
Pelican_Tusk@yahoo.com. Sorry for the inconvenience.
We are nearly finished writing the music portion of our new record. The new album will be about the same length as our two previous "full lengths," but this time we've gotten more efficient and pared it down to one song. It will be trial by fire for those of you who either like or hate the band.
Should also mention that there's an exclusive shirt design, as well as copies of our two aforementioned "full lengths," available from
www.hydraheadshop.com.

This by the far the most flattering thing anyone's ever said about a record I've been associated with. In a rare show of unbridled pride, I have to share it with you:
"The fact that a man could compose something as utterly vile and creepy, while capturing the art of music at the peak of perfection, is mind boggling in the least. This record has already met with much success and I don't see any reason why that path will end... one man's trash is another man's treasure, and to me Tusk is solid gold."
Thanks a lot, guy. That review is posted somewhere at http://sceneitall.net, so if you're bored and have nothing to read, go check it out.
Just found out that this Laci Peterson thing actually didn't have anything to with Brian Peterson or MP Shows. Uh, sorry about that. The Arafat comments still stand, and, in fact, if anyone has read any interesting conspiracy theories about his death, please email me some links - I'd love to post them here.
Working on setting up a record release show for us while Jody is in town in December. We shall see...

This just in!!! Chicago show promoting mogul and MP Shows CEO Brian Peterson has just been found guilty of the murder of his young wife Lacie Peterson and their unborn child!!! Expect many changes in the Chicago scene in coming weeks!!!
Also just in!!! Vinyl copies of Tusk's "Tree of No Return"!!! They are fucking gorgeous, enough said. The label responsible,
www.interloperrecords.com, is down to 70 copies the remaining 430 all having been presold to consumers and distributors. Keep your eyes peeled for this puppy and don't ask me for a copy you greedy fuck - I'm hoarding mine.
Also keep your eyes directed toward Palestine. Apparently Israel AND the U.S. think it's in Palestine's best interest to install a Western-friendly democracy in place of dead dictator Arafat. A very unsurprising end to the Israel-Palestine conflict; a terrible shame for the Palestinian people that Arafat's death came while Bush is in office. Who knows how badly they're set to get fucked.
Keep sipping them fair trade beans. Ahhhhh...

Another month, another update. Not too much to report, but what there is is pretty exciting. Vinyl is now days away from being in our palms... Interloper is accepting preorders at their website (
www.interloperrecords.com). Distributors have been snatching it up so fast that the initial pressing of 500 is nearly sold out, so order now! A repress is currently under contemplation with the promise of a different set of colored vinyl to distinguish the two pressings for you vinyl geeks out there.
As usual, I have a couple more rave reviews to report. Nothing like tugging our own chain, huh?
www.punknews.org gave it 4 and a half out of five stars (at least I think it's out of five stars),
www.adequacy.net accurately reported that"Tusk has created a conceptual grindcore record that not only borrows from one of the best templates in that genre, Discordance Axis, but throws in the oddball character and kitchen sink dynamics of Captain Beefheart's Magic Band", and
www.transformonline.com can be quizzically quoted as claiming "the drums and bass lock into an awesome dub-tinged groove that would make Sly and Robbie proud, while the guitars wail away like vultures fighting over a carcass." Wow.
Jody's voyage to sea has meant turning down a perfectly paired tour with Daughters. If you haven't heard Daughters (
www.wearedaughters.com) you're living on another planet. Chicagoans take note: those fuckers will be levelling the Bottom Lounge on Nov. 9th with new HeWhoCorrupts Inc. labelmates Tower of Rome, the latter of whom will be celebrating their record release.
That's all for now. Buy vinyl. We will see you again when Jody returns!

New info this week:
Jody has taken a job where he'll be at sea - away two months, home two months. Kind of like a trucker without lot lizards and with water instead of a highway. Thence, the record release show will be postponed until he returns.
Speaking of releases, our Japanese fans will be pleased to hear that "Tree of No Return" is slated for release next week (sorry, just concluded a fruitless internet search to find the "official" release date) via our friends at Daymare. The next logical step (hopefully) is a Japanese tour. We shall see.
My bandmates are really in this mode where they like us to have reviews of the record posted on the website. I dunno, I guess it's cool. Anway, here's a snippet of what www.lambgoat.com had to say about the record when they misrepresented it as "Album of the Week": "Bottom Line: This is the background for happy as well as sad times. This is the soundtrack for your worst nightmare or your worst acid trip. This is the soundtrack for your next seizure. This is what you listen to when you are completely disgusted by everything else. This is the show you book at a person’s house who you hate. Tusk is the beautiful antithesis to everything you hold dear."
If you want more reviews check www.deadtide.com and a bunch of other places. I dunno, like "google it" or whatever. Fuck you. Okay, I'm through with this.

Another rave review just in:
"Tusk are certainly a challenging lot, no doubt about that. Of course, how many listens will this one get? How is the shelf life looking? Not too many and not too long, respectively and, you know, respectfully."
www.flexyourhead.com.
And again, the CD is now available at
www.hydraheadshop.com and
www.redlinedistribution.com.

Good news! The $5000 my dying uncle invested in promotion is starting to pay off as reviews for the record come rolling in! Just check these pull quotes:
"When you're in fifth grade or so, most kids learn the classic story arc modeled on the five-act play: an exposition leads to rising action which results in a climax, which trails off gradually into a neat denoument... After making my way through Tree of No Return it becomes clear how much we depend on those familiar patterns to aid us as we interpret the information we receive." - (
www.dfbpunk.com)
"They employ, banjo, bowed mandolin and recorder at times..." - (
www.indieworkshop.com)
"Un disque présenté comme un album mais qui a tout d’un EP puisqu’il ne compte que cinq titres et ne dure qu’une petite vingtaine de minutes. Etrange ? Pas tant que ça en fait, car Tusk joue la carte du massacre auditif, et un album d’une heure pour un tel groupe serait difficilement concevable... Répugnant !" - (
www.liabilitywebzine.com)
Fantastic record? Or just in the right place at the right time? Your guess is as good as mine. One thing remains clear... the crtics can't get enough of it. Next record'll be over an hour, just to teach the French how it's done.

Oops... while Pelican was on tour I missed the opportunity to update you on a special offer from
www.hydraheadshop.com. From August 4 to August 13th the new album "Tree of No Return" was available for preorder with LIMITED EDITION shirt made for the purpose. Sorry you missed it! Anyway, the album is available for IMMEDIATE SHIPMENT from the stated address now - too bad it won't include the shirt. We've just gotten layouts for the vinyl version. Lookin shwank. Those should be along shortly, I hope. Then maybe MAYBE we can start talking about a record release show.
Tusk endorse fair trade coffe beans. Have a sip!

I've been slacking on keeping you up to date. The test press was rejected (pretty bad year for us - the band we share members with, Pelican, also recently rejected a test pressing). There should be another one coming this week. The CDs are finished. I have a whole box of them. They will be with us at our show with Usurp Synapse next week. An "official" CD release show will follow in September, once Pelican returns from tour. I'd like for Sweet Cobra and Wolf and Cub to play, but I haven't asked them yet. The fact that I am writing this on the internet instead of addressing it to them in person may create a rift in our friendship. It could tear the scene apart. Hold on, pumpkin, we will weather this one together.

Hey. Everything is okay. Larry asked me to ask you to look at http://pictures.phantom-limb.com/notmuchmore/. Pictures 8,9, and 10 are of us. The others are of all the other great bands and people who were at the Not Much More Than Music Fest this past weekend. 14 or Fight didn't show. HeWhoCorrupts were so late that there had to be an hour long break in the lineup while everyone waited for them to show. We split, so I don't know if they made it.

Uh, wow. Big news just in - test pressing for "Tree of No Return" vinyl is shipping in one week. Considering it was just earlier this week that I even mentioned that it was coming out on that format, I'm pretty surprised at the turnaround. More info at www.interloperrecords.com - that being the label's website.
